PILT4 README

PILT4 README

Description

PILT4 is a package that allows you to read, but currently not write, images with one-dimensional T4 compression (Group 3 fax) with the Python Imaging Library.

Installation

Download the lastest version of PILT4 from http://pubweb.northwestern.edu/~omh221/PILT4. Obviously, you must have the PIL installed in order to make use of this module. If you download the source distribution, untar it and use the included setup.py script to install it. If you download a binary distribution, simply unpack it.

Use

In order to use PILT4, simply import the PILT4 package from your Python program. PILT4 will automagically insinuate itself to the Python Imaging Library. Simply load your image with Imaging.load() as you always do.

Unit tests

The PILT4 source distribution comes with a simple unit test module.
